live bet Advertisement Chuck Woolery died on Saturday, November 23, at the age of 83. The legendary game show star was best known as the original host of "Wheel of Fortune." Woolery became a conservative commentator and Trump supporter later in his life. Chuck Woolery, the media personality best known for hosting the game shows " Wheel of Fortune " and "Love Connection," died on Saturday at the age of 83. Woolery's friend and podcast co-host Mark Young said in a statement on X: "It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother has just passed away. Life will not be the same without him, RIP brother." Related Video Young, who hosted the podcast "Blunt Force Truth" with Woolery, told the Associated Press that the star had died at his home in Texas with his wife present. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, Woolery found early success in the music world after serving a stint in the US Navy. In 1968, he scored a Top 40 hit with the song "Naturally Stoned" as part of a pop group called The Avant-Garde. Advertisement After failing to follow up the success as a solo artist, Woolery turned to acting in the 1970s. However, it was through his role as the original host of the hugely popular game show "Wheel of Fortune" that he really made his name. The NBC show, which premiered in 1975, earned Woolery a Daytime Emmy nomination. His six-year tenure on the show ended in 1981 following a pay dispute. Georgia quarterback Carson Beck announced Saturday that he will forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck, 22, led the Southeastern Conference with 28 touchdown passes and finished third in the SEC with 3,485 passing yards. He also led the conference in interceptions, however. Beck will be a spectator for the Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff after undergoing surgery Monday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right (throwing) elbow. Gunner Stockton is in line to guide No. 2 seed Georgia into the CFP, starting with the Bulldogs' quarterfinal game against No. 7 seed Notre Dame at the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday in New Orleans. "There's unfinished business still this season and I'll be here to support however I can, finish strong!" Beck said in a statement posted on social media. Beck, a fifth-year senior, finished with a 24-3 record in his career with Georgia. "The past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made. Thank you Dawg Nation for the time I've been here and to those who've supported and believed in me, thank you," Beck wrote on social media. "It's been an incredible journey and all these moments have ultimately led me to take the next step in my football career. With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Go Dawgs!" Beck, the Bulldogs' starter all year, was replaced in the second half of the SEC title game with the injury. Stockton helped to guide the Bulldogs to a 22-19 overtime win over Texas and clinch a first-round bye in the first 12-team playoff. --Field Level MediaCowboys win wild one vs. Commanders to halt five-game slide

Dog longevity pill could give promise to human healthCalifornia’s ‘Trump-proofing’ likely won’t include AI — at least not yetNEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks closed at more records after Donald Trump’s latest talk about tariffs created only some ripples on Wall Street. The S&P 500 rose 0.6% to reach another all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.3% to its own record set the day before, while the Nasdaq composite rose 0.6% as Big Tech stocks helped lead the way. Stock markets abroad saw mostly modest losses, after President-elect Trump said he plans to impose sweeping tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China as soon as he takes office. U.S. automakers and other companies that could be hurt particularly by such tariffs fell. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below. NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are rising toward records Tuesday after Donald Trump’slatest talk about tariffs created only some ripples on Wall Street, even if they could roil the global economy were they to take effect. People are also reading... The S&P 500 climbed 0.5% and was on track to top its all-time high set a couple weeks ago. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 81 points, or 0.2%, to its own record set the day before, while the Nasdaq composite was 0.5% higher, with less than an hour remaining in trading. Stock markets abroad were down, but mostly only modestly, after President-elect Trump said he plans to impose sweeping new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China as soon as he takes office. Stock indexes were down 0.1% in Shanghai and nearly flat in Hong Kong, while Canada's main index edged down by just 0.1%. Trump has often praised the use of tariffs, but investors are weighing whether his latest threat will actually become policy or is just an opening point for negotiations. For now, the market seems to be taking it more as the latter. Unless the United States can prepare alternatives for the autos, energy products and other goods that come from Mexico, Canada and China, such tariffs would raise the price of imported items all at once and make households poorer, according to Carl Weinberg and Rubeela Farooqi, economists at High Frequency Economics. They would also hurt profit margins for U.S. companies, while raising the threat of retaliatory tariffs by other countries. General Motors sank 8.2%, and Ford Motor fell 2.6% because both import automobiles from Mexico. Constellation Brands, which sells Modelo and other Mexican beer brands in the United States, dropped 3.9%. Beyond the pain such tariffs would cause U.S. households and businesses, they could also push the Federal Reserve to slow or even halt its cuts to interest rates. The Fed had just begun easing its main interest rate from a two-decade high a couple months ago to offer support to the job market. While lower interest rates can boost the overall economy and prices for investments, they can also offer more fuel for inflation. “Many” officials at the Fed's last meeting earlier this month said they should lower rates gradually, according to minutes of the meeting released Tuesday afternoon. Unlike tariffs in Trump's first term, his proposal from Monday night would affect products across the board. Trump’s tariff talk came almost immediately after U.S. stocks rose Monday amid excitement about his pick for Treasury secretary, Scott Bessent. The hope was the hedge-fund manager could steer Trump away from policies that balloon the U.S. government deficit, which is how much more it spends than it takes in through taxes and other revenue. The talk about tariffs overshadowed another set of mixed profit reports from U.S. retailers that answered few questions about how much more shoppers can keep spending. They’ll need to stay resilient after helping the economy avoid a recession, despite the high interest rates instituted by the Fed to get inflation under control. Kohl’s tumbled 17.6% after its results for the latest quarter fell short of analysts’ expectations. CEO Tom Kingsbury said sales remain soft for apparel and footwear. A day earlier, Kingsbury said he plans to step down as CEO in January. Ashley Buchanan, CEO of Michaels and a retail veteran, will replace him. Best Buy fell 4.7% after likewise falling short of analysts’ expectations. Dick’s Sporting Goods topped forecasts for the latest quarter thanks to a strong back-to-school season, but its stock lost an early gain to fall 1.4%. A report on Tuesday from the Conference Board said confidence among U.S. consumers improved in November, but not by as much as economists expected. J.M. Smucker jumped 5.4% for one of the biggest gains in the S&P 500 after topping analysts' expectations for the latest quarter. CEO Mark Smucker credited strength for its Uncrustables, Meow Mix, Café Bustelo and Jif brands. Big Tech stocks also helped prop up U.S. indexes. Gains of 2.8% for Amazon and 2% for Microsoft were the two strongest forces lifting the S&P 500. In the bond market, Treasury yields rose following their big drop from a day before driven by relief following Trump’s pick for Treasury secretary. The yield on the 10-year Treasury climbed to 4.30% from 4.28% late Monday, but it’s still well below the 4.41% level where it ended last week. In the crypto market, bitcoin continued to pull back after topping $99,000 for the first time late last week. It's since dipped back toward $91,600, according to CoinDesk. It’s a sharp turnaround from the bonanza that initially took over the crypto market following Trump’s election. That boom had also appeared to have spilled into some corners of the stock market. Strategists at Barclays Capital pointed to stocks of unprofitable companies, along with other areas that can be caught up in bursts of optimism by smaller-pocketed “retail” investors. LOS ANGELES — It's always a good idea to bundle up at Mammoth Mountain, but anyone hoping to get in some holiday ski runs may want to consider some additional layers. A storm forecast to hit this weekend is expected to bring strong winds with gusts of up to 70 mph at the mountain's summit, according to the National Weather Service . A high-wind watch has been issued for most of Sunday, with sustained winds of 40 to 45 mph expected along with the more powerful gusts. A new snow layer of 1 to 2 inches is also possible — welcome news for those looking to hit the slopes before ringing in the new year. But while conditions may be blustery, visitors shouldn't expect the same sort of scene depicted in a viral video that's been making the rounds on social media. That video, which was posted on X on Christmas Day, showed hundreds of skiers lining up for a ski lift while being pelted by snow and wind. However, the video was originally posted on Instagram more than a week earlier — and was taken at a time when most lifts had been closed due to wind gusts up to 100 mph at the mountain's summit, Mammoth Mountain spokesperson Emily van Greuning told SFGate. Jake Baisley, who took the original video, said it was on the fourth day of his first trip to Mammoth Mountain. "The conditions were pretty crummy," he said, "lots of rocks showing and the lines were long on the weekends." Despite the wind and lines, he'll likely head back to Mammoth, he said, adding that the area is good for van life . Other than that now-viral moment, Van Greuning said, the busy holiday season has been going as expected. The Eastern Sierra ski resort has seen a good turnout so far this season, which usually starts in November and ends in May. With 3,500 acres available for skiing, there's not much concern for crowding on a typical day, Van Greuning told The Times in an email Thursday. Last year's season extended into August for only the third time in the resort's seven-decade history, when the main lodge saw a record 60 feet of snow. ©2024 Los Angeles Times. Visit latimes.com . Despite the rally, the PSX’s market capitalisation remains at $50 billion, significantly below its 2017 peak of $100 billion. The decline is due to rupee devaluation, large dividend payouts and fewer new listings. As a percentage of GDP, the PSX is at 11 per cent, compared to its 10-year average of 16 per cent and a peak of 29 per cent in 2017. Trading activity surged to record highs, with average daily volumes in the ready/cash market reaching Rs54 billion ($190 million) in December, a significant rise from Rs22 billion earlier in 2024 and Rs10 billion in 2023. Local mutual funds and insurance companies emerged as major buyers, capitalising on falling interest rates, while foreign investors were net sellers due to passive fund outflows. However, active Frontier funds showed confidence in the PSX, becoming net buyers in 2024. Notable developments included the government raising Rs2 trillion through Sukuk bonds and the PSX witnessing seven new listings that generated Rs8.4 billion, the highest in three years, Sohail explained. Looking ahead to 2025, the PSX -- currently trading at a price-to-earnings (PE) ratio of 6x -- could sustain its positive momentum if political stability continues, per Sohail’s estimates Ample liquidity in the system, alongside key events such as IMF reviews, privatisation efforts and potential credit rating upgrades, will be critical factors shaping the market’s trajectory.

Daniel Jones is a free agent and another coach of a contending team got asked about the possibility of adding him to their quarterback room on Tuesday. The Lions currently have second-year player Hendon Hooker behind Jared Goff on the active roster and Jake Fromm is on their practice squad. At a press conference, head coach Dan Campbell was asked if the team has considered adding Jones to the mix. “We haven’t really talked about that,” Campbell said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press . “The name’s come up but it’s not like we’ve sat down and talked so I don’t want to give you a yes or a no.” Hooker spent his rookie season rehabbing a knee injury and has appeared in three games to close out lopsided wins this season. He’s thrown nine passes in those games and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson said recently that he’d like to get Hooker more work , but doesn’t want to disrespect opponents on the wrong end of a blowout. If the Lions aren’t willing to gamble on the possibility that they’ll have Hooker learning on the job in do-or-die moments, they could bring Jones to Detroit for the final weeks of the season.Norman Cook's mum has died, his son has confirmed. Norman - who is also known as Fatboy Slim - shares 24-year-old son Woody with radio presenter ex-wife Zoe Ball . Sharing the tragic news in a heartbreaking post on Instagram , he wrote: "Ups and downs of the year. My Granny Ros passed away on Christmas Day, She was an amazing woman and 'was ready to start her next life.' That kind of optimism and mentality really inspires me. Losing two Grandparents this year has really made me grow and made me focus a-lot more on family." "The ups: I'm having a blast in New York, was homesick on my Birthday and Christmas but i've been working really hard on music and it's really paying off. My friends over here are so lovely and feel like family. Life always goes on x New year's resolution is to make every second count... Safe travels Ros and thank you for everything." He shared an image of him reflecting and also a family snap alongside his thoughtful words. The death marked the second grandmother of Woody's to have died this year. In April, former Radio 2 host Zoe announced her mum, Julia, had passed. At the time, the DJ posted a series of final photos of her mum during a New Year's break in the Caribbean four months before her death. Zoe confirmed her mother's death after announcing her pancreatic cancer diagnosis in March. Captioning a picture of Julia on Twitter (X), following her death, Zoe wrote: "Sleep tight dear Mama. thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally, to always show courage and empathy, and how, even in the darkest of days, laughter is the greatest of gifts. we are bereft without you but will hold so tight to each other." Zoe and Woody recently spent time together following her exit from her Radio 2 breakfast show. Zoe was beaming as she shared a glimpse of her 'fairytale' Christmas in New York City with her daughter Nelly and son Woody. Zoe had flown over with Nelly to join her son overseas, with Zoe arriving only hours after she said goodbye to her fans on live radio. In images shared on her social media, Zoe had a ball as she went ice skating with her two children in Central Park. She also shared images of her with her kids in a restaurant as she smiled for the camera. Zoe wrapped up warm in black trousers, a cream-coloured sweat, a thick overcoat and a green scarf. She completed the cosy look with a beanie.

There are lots of heartfelt stories to tell about Doug Koch, a longtime downtown Victoria bookseller who passed away suddenly while commuting home. “He’s one you would remember,” said an emotional Jessica Paul, manager at Munro’s Books , where Koch worked for several decades. “He was here for 35 years. He was the most incredible man, he was so kind to everyone,” Paul told CHEK News in an interview Wednesday. “He had so many interests – music, books or politics. Locals or visitors coming through, he had that innate ability to connect with people,” she added. Earlier this week, Munro’s staff “with heavy hearts” announced Koch’s passing, saying their “beloved colleague and friend ... died suddenly” on Saturday. He had left work early that day because he wasn’t feeling well, according to Paul. On his way home, it’s believed he suffered a heart attack and died while riding a BC Transit bus in Esquimalt. The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. “We’re all feeling his loss greatly,” reads a post on Munro’s Facebook. “Always quick with a kind word and a music recommendation, Doug embodied the spirit of bookselling at Munro’s, and it’s hard to imagine the store without him.” The independent store at 1108 Government St. prides itself on having “passionate” staff and being “a destination for book lovers” for more than 60 years. Staff at the store in the post say Koch was often found “manning the front desk, giving out dog biscuits, and curating many sections in the store...” ‘We need more Dougies’ Now, tributes are pouring in, both online and in person. Wes Koch thanked people in the comments for their support and described his late sibling as “the best big brother anyone could ever ask for,” saying he “forged many great relationships over the years” and will be deeply missed. “And ‘you betcha’ (as he would often say), we need more Dougies in this world.” Kyeren Regehr wrote she “can’t imagine Munro’s, or Victoria, without Doug,” while Gillian Jones, who previously worked with Koch, said he was “a warm and thoughtful person who kept a written list of everyone’s birthdays...” “He never missed calling a co-worker to sing happy birthday, most often leaving you a voicemail. Years after I worked at Munro’s, he still called to sing.” Koch, born in 1958, didn’t always call Vancouver Island home. “If you worked by his side long enough, you would have heard his stories about working the railroads, hitchhiking across Canada and how much his rent was when he lived in Montreal,” wrote Marianne Kelly in her own Facebook post. Sister Lori Koch said it was “comforting to read these heartfelt messages. They truly shine a light on the authentic, incomparable gentle man he was.” Former BC NDP leader Carole James also commented that visiting Munro’s wasn’t complete “without a hug and conversation” with Koch. “Such sad news ... Thinking of his family and large circle of friends and book readers.” Munro’s staff are inviting people to leave a remembrance of Koch in the post comment section or stop by the store and share their memories in person.McDermott, AFC East-leading Bills refreshed coming out of bye week, and looking ahead to host 49ers
