He was speaking at an award ceremony in Jaipur. This is the first time that the billionaire founder of the Adani Group has spoken since the US Department of Justice and the US SEC levied charges of bribery among others, on certain executives of the group, including him on November 21. “This is not the first time we have faced such challenges,” he said at the award function. “What I can tell you is that every attack makes us stronger and every obstacle becomes a stepping stone for a more resilient Adani Group,” he said. He added that there has been a lot of vested reporting around the incident, and consequently negativity, but the group remains committed to compliance processes. “As we work through the legal process, I want to re-confirm our absolute commitment to world class regulatory compliance,” Adani said. On Friday, Adani’s group chief financial officer Jugeshinder (Robbie) Singh also said that the Group will highlight certain facts related to charges by US authorities in the next 10 days. He also said that the group’s growth plans remain unaffected over the next decade. Early in 2023, US-based short seller Hindenburg alleged the Adani group of lapses in corporate governance . This move led to the group losing as much as $150 billion in market capitalization at one point, and the group also returned Rs 20,000 crore that it had raised from a follow-on public offer for its flagship firm Adani Enterprises . “This was not a typical financial strike; it was a double hit — targeting our financial stability and pulling us into a political controversy. But even in the face of such adversity, our commitment to our principles remained strong,” Adani said. Following the charges by US regulatory authorities last week, group firm Adani Green Energy has also withdrawn its $600 million bond offering. Shares of the group also saw a sharp correction following the charges, but have gained some ground since then. “I have come to accept that the roadblocks we face are the price of pioneering,” Adani said at the end of his address. “The more bold your dreams, the more the world will scrutinize you. But it is precisely in that scrutiny that you must find the courage to rise, to challenge the status quo, and to build a path where none exists,” he said. John Healey said that the Government’s “interest” in Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), is “that they live up to their promises to protect” rights, when he spoke to reporters after a Cobra meeting on Thursday. HTS is banned in the UK because of its past association with al Qaida, the terrorist organisation once led by Osama bin Laden. But its leader, Abu Mohammed al-Golani, cut ties with al Qaida years ago and has sought to present his group as a more moderate and inclusive organisation, leading some to suggest the group should no longer be proscribed. When asked whether the Government was considering the status of the group, Mr Healey said: “Proscription is not a matter for now. “It doesn’t stop us talking to all the parties, and our interest in HTS is that they live up to their promises to protect the rights of all individuals and all groups, to respect international law and to prevent Syria becoming a base for a fresh terrorist threat.” Mr Healey said that Thursday’s meeting was “about making sure we have, as a Government, a laser focus on the role that we can play with allies to see a stable, peaceful transition. “So that the Syrians get the government they need for the future, and the region can see the stability in the future that it also needs.” Cobra meetings are called when ministers or officials need to respond to urgent matters. Following the toppling of the Bashar Assad regime over the weekend, the UK has paused decisions on asylum applications from Syria. Thousands of Syrians have been granted asylum in the UK but, earlier this week, the Home Office said decisions on applications would be paused while events unfold in Damascus. When asked how long the system would be paused for, and whether the move was fair, Mr Healey said on Thursday: “This is early days. “It’s a measure in response to rapidly changing developments, and the most important thing for us now is that the UK plays and will continue to play a full role with allies to see a stable, peaceful, orderly transition and that requires a political process. “It requires dialogue at the heart of it, and today’s ministerial meeting, the Cobra meeting, was about making sure that we do just that.” Earlier on Thursday, G7 leaders said that they “stand with the people of Syria” and “denounce terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms”. In a statement, Sir Keir Starmer and his counterparts said: “The G7 will work with and fully support a future Syrian government that abides by those standards and results from that process.” It went on: “After decades of atrocities committed by the Assad regime, we stand with the people of Syria. We denounce terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms. “We are hopeful that anyone seeking a role in governing Syria will demonstrate a commitment to the rights of all Syrians, prevent the collapse of state institutions, work on the recovery and rehabilitation of the country, and ensure the conditions for safe and dignified voluntary return to Syria of all those who were forced to flee the country.”Market Dynamics: Nvidia’s Volatile Day Nvidia stock experienced a dramatic day of trading with an initial surge of 4.8% on Wednesday. However, despite optimism from Wall Street analysts, shares took a negative turn to close about 1% lower. This unexpected reversal came as federal projections hinted at fewer interest cuts in the coming years, sparking a market-wide decline. Analysts Back Nvidia Amid Competitive Pressures Several top analysts, including those from Bernstein, TD Cowen, Morgan Stanley, and Truist, have shown unwavering support for Nvidia. They attribute this steadfastness to Nvidia’s robust technology stack, which continues to lead the AI chip market. Truist Securities recently increased Nvidia’s price target, demonstrating confidence in the company despite rising competition from custom-made chips by tech giants like Google and Meta. KILLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — American skier Mikaela Shiffrin said she suffered an abrasion on her left hip and that something “stabbed” her when she crashed during her second run of a World Cup giant slalom race Saturday, doing a flip and sliding into the protective fencing. Shiffrin stayed down on the edge of the course for quite some time as the ski patrol attended to her. She was taken off the hill on a sled and waved to the cheering crowd before going to a clinic for evaluation. “Not really too much cause for concern at this point, I just can’t move,” she said later in a video posted on social media . “I have a pretty good abrasion and something stabbed me. ... I’m so sorry to scare everybody. It looks like all scans so far are clear.” She plans to skip the slalom race Sunday, writing on Instagram she will be “cheering from the sideline.” The 29-year-old was leading after the first run of the GS and charging for her 100th World Cup win. She was within sight of the finish line, five gates onto Killington’s steep finish pitch, when she an outside edge. She hit a gate and did a somersault before sliding into another gate. The fencing slowed her momentum as she came to an abrupt stop. Reigning Olympic GS champion Sara Hector of Sweden won in a combined time of 1 minute, 53.08 seconds. Zrinka Ljutic of Croatia was second and Swiss racer Camille Rast took third. The Americans saw Paula Moltzan and Nina O’Brien finish fifth and sixth. “It’s just so sad, of course, to see Mikaela crash like that and skiing so well,” Hector said on the broadcast after her win. “It breaks my heart and everybody else here.” The crash was a surprise for everyone. Shiffrin rarely DNFs — ski racing parlance for “did not finish.” In 274 World Cup starts, she DNF'd only 18 times. The last time she DNF'd in GS was January 2018. Shiffrin also has not suffered any devastating injuries. In her 14-year career, she has rehabbed only two on-hill injuries: a torn medial collateral ligament and bone bruising in her right knee in December 2015 and a sprained MCL and tibiofibular ligament in her left knee after a downhill crash in January 2024. Neither knee injury required surgery, and both times, Shiffrin was back to racing within two months. Saturday was shaping up to be a banner day for Shiffrin, who skied flawlessly in the first run and held a 0.32-second lead as she chased after her 100th World Cup win. Shiffrin, who grew up in both New Hampshire and Colorado and sharpened her skills at nearby Burke Mountain Academy, has long been a fan favorite. Shiffrin is driven not so much by wins but by arcing the perfect run. She has shattered so many records along the way. She passed Lindsey Vonn’s women’s mark of 82 World Cup victories on Jan. 24, 2023, during a giant slalom in Kronplatz, Italy. That March, Shiffrin broke Swedish great Ingemar Stenmark’s Alpine mark for most World Cup wins when she captured her 87th career race. To date, she has earned five overall World Cup titles, two Olympic gold medals — along with a silver — and seven world championships. In other FIS Alpine World Cup news, the Tremblant World Cup — two women’s giant slaloms at Quebec’s Mont-Tremblant scheduled for next weekend — were canceled. Killington got 21 inches of snow on Thanksgiving Day, but Tremblant — five hours north of Killington — had to cancel its races because of a lack of snow. ___ AP Sports Writer Pat Graham in Denver contributed to this report. ___ More AP skiing: https://apnews.com/hub/alpine-skiing Peggy Shinn, The Associated Press

The last thing the San Francisco 49ers needed for their Week 12 matchup with the Green Bay Packers was to be without their starting quarterback, but it appears they may have to deal with that scenario. Brock Purdy left practice on Thursday after throwing just a few passes in the section of the session open to media. According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area , Purdy was seen getting his shoulder rubbed by head athletic trainer Dustin Little before the quarterback left prior to the start of practice. Purdy has been dealing with shoulder soreness in the wake of the 49ers' surprise loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, one which left them 5-5 and bottom of the NFC West. He was officially listed as limited for Thursday's session, but the 49ers' decision to push the usual quarterback media session back to Friday suggested there is a strong chance Purdy will not play at Lambeau Field. If that proves to be the case, Brandon Allen would get the start under center for the 49ers. Joshua Dobbs is the third-stringer. Nick Bosa and Trent Williams again missed practice, while reigning Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey was back after a rest day on Wednesday. Rookie wide receiver Jacob Cowing sat out the session after being limited on Wednesday, indicating he is on course to miss the game with a concussion suffered against Seattle. 49ers injury report This article first appeared on A to Z Sports and was syndicated with permission.
