Sampson scored on a 14-yard TD run early in the second quarter for the game's first points to deliver his 22nd TD of tje season to break the Tennessee single-season mark set by Gene McEvers in 1929. Iamaleava was 15 of 20 for 173 yards for Tennessee (9-2), while Bru McCoy caught a pair of TD passes and Squirrel White and Ethan Davis each had a TD reception. Tennessee moved its all-time record to 2-0 against the Miners, also having blanked the Conference USA school 24-0 in 2018. Jermod McCoy and John Slaughter had interceptions for the Volunteers, while Dominic Bailey recovered a fumble to set up a score. Skyler Locklear was 10-of-19 passing for 50 yards with an interception for UTEP (2-9), while rushing for 37 yards on eight carries. JP Pickles also had a turn at QB for the Miners and was 10 of 15 for 72 yards. Kenny Odom had eight receptions for 70 yards. Both defenses set the tone in the first quarter. The UTEP defense allowed just one first down to the Southeastern Conference team in three ugly series in the opening quarter and only 22 yards. In the second quarter, Sampson ended a 68-yard drive by dashing up the middle for 14 yards for the record-setting score to take a 7-0 lead with 13:22 remaining before halftime. After Bailey's fumble recovery, Iamaleava flipped a screen pass that White took 9 yards to the end zone nearly six minutes later. Davis put the Volunteers up 21-0 when he grabbed a short pass for a 1-yard TD. Iamaleava then found Bru McCoy from 18 yards with eight seconds left in the second quarter for a 28-0 halftime lead. McCoy caught his second TD and Peyton Lewis rushed for a pair for a 49-0 lead in the third quarter, but the biggest roar from Volunteers fans came when it was announced Florida beat No. 9 Ole Miss 24-17, to enhance the Volunteers' College Football Playoff hopes. Cameron Seldon's 3-yard run capped the scoring as the Volunteers finished the season undefeated at home for the second time in four years. --Field Level Media

"It doesn’t show the work that we’ve put in this offseason together. “Nobody else will say it but me, and I feel like this has a lot to do with myself, obviously putting myself in harm’s way in the second game, going down and basically leaving my guys out to dry ... I do take heart to that as well and don’t want to do that to my guys again.” The Dolphins looked like they were returning to last season's form during a recent three-game winning streak, but questions about Miami's toughness resurfaced after a poor performance at frigid Lambeau Field last Thursday, when the temperature at kickoff was around 27 degrees. Miami missed 20 tackles, per Next Gen Stats, and allowed 114 yards on the ground while only rushing for 39 yards. Tagovailoa was sacked five times. The Dolphins have lost their past 12 regular-season or postseason games in which the temperature at kickoff was 40 degrees or lower, with more potential cold weather games coming up at Houston, Cleveland and the New York Jets later this season. Miami was 4-10 in games played in December or later in the past two seasons. “Collectively you’ve got to all have that same mindset,” Tagovailoa said of Miami's toughness. “That’s why we have team football, that’s why you’re in team sports. I think you’ve got to look at it as, are you mentally tough and are you physically tough? They have to go hand in hand. If one of those things has a kink in it, it could go one way or the other.” A few weeks after former Dolphins safety DeShon Elliott said the Dolphins were “soft” when he played there, linebacker Jordyn Brooks criticized his team's toughness after losing to Green Bay. “I feel like we let the elements control the way we played,” Brooks said after the 30-17 loss. “As a group, I thought we were soft. Simple as that.” Coach Mike McDaniel said he expects all kinds of criticisms to come when the team fails to reach expectations, but added that he uses the game tape to measure toughness. “If I have an example of weak-mindedness or situations where a guy is turning something down or how he’s loafing because of a result, those are things I can coach,” McDaniel said. McDaniel added he didn't see anything on the tape to suggest players weren't giving full effort, but he did see many instances of missed tackles because of straining and poor technique — not bringing their feet through the tackle — which got worse as the game went on. He also said players would have insisted he bench teammates if they were “loafing” or turning down assignments, which he indicated didn't happen. “I'm very aware that the narrative exists," McDaniel said, "and with absolute certainty, I know that the narrative will exist unless it changes. There’s one way to change it. And that’s winning a game against the New York Jets. "And you know what? People still might not call you tough. Cool. I take it very serious as a head coach to be responsible for things that can help to be accountable and to bring forth information that’s actually helpful, not finger pointing." Some Dolphins players disagreed with the notion the team isn't tough enough. “I guess we’ve got to prove it wrong," said defensive tackle Zach Sieler. “If people think that, we’ve got to go out there and beat it. I don’t think that’s the case. I think we play physically up front. I think we play physically all around. I think we’ve got to make sure we’re showing that on Sunday.” Miami placed backup cornerback Cam Smith on injured reserve after he dislocated his shoulder against Green Bay. The Dolphins also signed tackle Jackson Carman off the practice squad and signed cornerback Jason Maitre to the practice squad. ... Edge rushers Bradley Chubb and Cameron Goode practiced Wednesday for the first time this season, and McDaniel didn't rule out the possibility of one or both of them playing on Sunday. Chubb tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Week 17 last season, and Goode ruptured a patella tendon in the season finale. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL

This 'Warm' and 'Stylish' Flannel Shirt Is 40% Off on Amazon Right NowOpenAI Details Plans for Becoming a For-Profit CompanyThe peregrine falcon, the bird with the fastest diving speed in the world, and also a rare visitor to Singapore, has been recorded nesting here for the first time. This is significant, as little is known about the breeding habits of this species in tropical areas. This also makes for the first breeding pair of peregrine falcons here, which means that the species might be Singapore's rarest breeding bird. Photo from Max Khoo, NParks Falcons spotted mating In a biodiversity record published in scientific journal Nature in Singapore on Aug. 30, a falcon was spotted flying around the SingTel building along Pickering Street on Jan. 30 earlier this year. Photo from Max Khoo, NParks A day later, a pair of falcons were seen copulating on the One George Street building, and the female then entered a recess 37 floors up on the exterior of the OCBC Centre building later that night. The pair was observed copulating a second time on Feb. 1, and the female then disappeared into the recess. To monitor the falcons' activity, remote cameras were placed on the balcony below the recess, and a telescopic tripod with a camera was raised to the recess to determine the breeding status of the pair. Although two eggs were seen sitting on the bare concrete on Apr. 23, the adult falcons were not seen incubating the eggs or flying to the nest. Several months later, the eggs were still there, with no parents attending to them. Photo from SUTD Unsuitable nesting substrate Although this was the first time that peregrine falcons were seen nesting in Singapore, the breeding unfortunately turned out to be unsuccessful, as the eggs were abandoned. The biodiversity record, which was submitted by National Parks Board (NParks) researchers including Malcolm Soh and Max Khoo from the Wildlife Management Research team, stated that the eggs could have been abandoned due to unsuitable nesting substrate. Peregrine falcons typically nest on loose gravel where they can hollow out a space for the eggs, or occasionally, abandoned nests from other birds. Photo from Malcolm Soh, NParks "It is therefore likely that the absence of suitable substrate in the recess may have impeded nesting success," Soh said in a statement to Mothership . Inspired by claw machines The eggs were retrieved with the help of a team of robotics researchers from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), using a device called the Egg Retrieval and Nesting Enhancement Support Tool (ERNEST). Associate Professor Foong Shaohui, who led the SUTD team, told Mothership that the name ERNEST is a play on the peregrine falcon's species name, Falco peregrinus ernesti . "And the name includes the word 'nest'," he quipped. NParks and SUTD researchers. Photo from NParks The SUTD team initially considered deploying one of their existing devices, a drone which had a grabber attached to it. However, when the team surveyed the balcony area, they said it was too small to deploy a drone and conditions were too windy so high up. Additionally, a permit would need to be acquired to fly the drone. Inspired by claw machines at the arcade and cranes used to pick up containers at ports, the team combined the drone's grabber with a 10m telescopic pole, which can reach the eggs in the recess. ERNEST was thus born after a month of development. Photo from NParks Video by Ashley Tan The extension of the grabber can be controlled by cables on the ground, and the opening and closing of the grabber, by a remote. A demonstration of the grabber with some replica eggs. Video by Ashley Tan Retrieving the eggs was a finicky process. However, it only took around an hour — much faster, safer and efficient than the alternative option of setting up a scaffold for someone to climb up and grab the eggs themselves, Foong said. Video from SUTD And success. Photo from NParks Eggs were badly decomposed The eggs were sent to Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM), Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore, where they were examined by Tan Yen Yi, assistant senior curator of birds. Photo from NParks Although both eggs were mostly similar in size, one egg was noticeably heavier and almost twice the weight of the other, Soh said. The lighter egg had a small crack and a strong sulphurous smell, which meant that it had decomposed. Soh shared that the decomposition was likely due to a "bacterial invasion through its compromised shell". The heavier egg meanwhile, was intact and preliminary candling revealed a viable but likely non-fertile egg. Its contents were also decomposed, but to a lesser extent than the lighter one. These observations suggest that the eggs may have been abandoned "due to shell damage", Soh said. Helping to improve the falcons' nesting success Peregrine falcons have been observed around the Central Business District area since 2017, and pairs have been observed copulating in the area in December 2022 and January 2023. This shows that the species has adapted well to urban environments here. Photo from Max Khoo, NParks Evidence of the falcons' presence was observed at OCBC Centre — these were the remains of a pigeon meal on the balcony ledge below the recess, found on Nov. 15. Photo by Ashley Tan Nevertheless, while peregrine falcons might be "one of the most studied avian species in the world, hardly anything is known about its breeding in tropical latitudes," the biodiversity record wrote. "While the peregrine falcon is extensively studied in temperate and cold latitudes, there remains a significant gap in our understanding of its breeding behaviour in tropical latitudes." As such, continued monitoring and research are key to better understanding the breeding behaviour of the species here. To further improve the nesting success of the falcons, Soh recommended placing a nesting tray with loose gravel in the recess of the OCBC Centre building, which will act as a more suitable nesting substrate. The tray has a CCTV attached to it as well. Photo from NParks These were set up in the recess on Nov. 22 by workers who had to scale a scaffold. Photo from NParks Photo from NParks OCBC is also donating S$10,000 to support the installation of the nesting tray and CCTV system, which will monitor the falcons' breeding cycle. Koh Ching Ching, OCBC's head of group brand and communications, said: "It is an unusual instance for wildlife to set up homes within the central business district. We are embracing the wonders of this surprise right outside our office windows. Given our longstanding relationship with NParks, we are happy to play a small part in their quest to learn more about this rare breed of peregrine falcon. It is sometimes said that when a bird chooses to nest at your home, it can bring good luck to the owner.” Hopefully, falcon babies soon The nesting period for peregrine falcons is expected to be between January and early February 2025. If nesting is successful, the eggs are expected to hatch in March 2025, with chicks fledging in April 2025. "The research team will continue to monitor the nest site for subsequent breeding cycles and maintain the nest if needed, such as removing debris and replacing the nesting tray substrate," Soh said. Not only will this help to "provide deeper insight into the breeding biology and foraging preferences" of the species, it can help inform conservation strategies to support the falcons' existence in urban Singapore. Reflecting on the failed transfer saga, it is clear that big-money moves in football come with their own set of complexities and uncertainties. The pursuit of a player like Bonucci, with his commanding presence on the pitch and strong leadership qualities, showcased the high stakes and competitive nature of modern football transfers.

As the transfer window deadlines approached in both 2016 and 2017, it seemed like a deal could be struck between Manchester City and Juventus. However, in the end, the negotiations fell through, and Bonucci remained with the Serie A giants. Guardiola had to look elsewhere to bolster his defense, but the interest he had shown in Bonucci spoke volumes about the defender's talent and reputation in the footballing world. In the fast-paced world of social media, success can often seem elusive, with many creators facing numerous challenges and setbacks along the way. President Yoon himself is set to be a key focus of the investigation, with questions being raised about his motivations and the constitutionality of his actions. Limiting miscues is at the top of his wish list for Monday night's Big Ten Conference opener against visiting Minnesota in Bloomington, Ind. While the Hoosiers (7-2) shot 53.8 percent and dominated Miami (Ohio) 46-29 on the glass during a 76-57 win at home Friday night, they also had more turnovers (16) than assists (15). Having played for Bob Knight at Indiana, Woodson is fanatical about his team executing its offense without making mistakes. "We were taking chances on passes that weren't there," Woodson said. "We have to fix it. If we start Big Ten play like that, it puts you in a hole." In between careless mistakes, the Hoosiers got a huge game out of Oumar Ballo, the Arizona transfer who had 14 points, 18 rebounds and six assists. It was his 35th career double-double but his first at Indiana. Ballo (12.7 points per game, 9.3 rebounds) is one of four players averaging double figures for the Hoosiers. They're led by Malik Reneau, who's hitting for 15.4 ppg on 58.9 percent shooting. While Indiana tries to fine-tune its game, the Golden Gophers (6-4, 0-1 Big Ten) aim to get to the .500 mark in conference play after absorbing a 90-72 beating Wednesday night against visiting Michigan State. There was good news for Minnesota in that game. Mike Mitchell Jr. returned to the lineup after missing seven games with a high ankle sprain and drilled 5 of 9 3-pointers in a 17-point performance. Mitchell's shooting should aid an attack that ranks 311th in Division I in 3-point percentage at 29.7 percent as of Sunday. "He's a difference-maker in terms of being able to space the floor," Gophers coach Ben Johnson said of Mitchell. "He provides offensive firepower and a guy who can make shots and take pressure off our offense." Dawson Garcia leads the team at 19 ppg, while Lu'Cye Patterson and Mitchell are scoring 10 ppg. The Hoosiers own a 109-69 lead in the all-time series. --Field Level Media
